Reports about live shows.

Rob Leines

Rob Leines was the headliner for Tuesdays on the Creek this week at Indian Creek Plaza in Caldwell. The crowd (and dancers) were trated to some ****-kickin’ Country. This small three-piece band has a huge sound! Before learning guitar, Rob was a welder. This song is about that, called “Blue Collar”

Noble Holt & Captain Snafu

Noble Holt & Captain Snafu was the opeing act for Tuesdays on the Creek this week at Indian Creek Plaza in Caldwell. They did mostly original rock n roll. Even though his sun-drenched guitar was difficult to keep in tune, Noble’s work was impressive.

Buddy DeVore and Rob Matson

Buddy DeVore and Rob Matson of The Faded Cowboys played their western honky tonk music at Swirl Wine Shop and Lounge Saturday evening. We heard mostly covers from folks like Johnny Paycheck, Waylon Jennings, Marty Robbins, George Strait, Townes Van Zandt, Merle Haggard, and others. Here is one of the originals they sprinkled in called “Mountain scenery”, about Buddy being one of the luckiest men alive.

Abby Mills

Abby Mills, a singer/songwriter from Boise, played mostly original music Friday evening at Crescent Brewing in Nampa. Her music is from the heart – raw and real. She postponed performing for a bit to finish up her schooling, but keep your eyes peeled as she makes her way to the stage more often this summer. Here’s her song, “Brighter Days”.

Honey Trail

Honey Trail is a Folk-Rock/Americana Duo made up of Brandon Lyons and Bregeen McClure. They played mostly original music at Barbarian Brewing in Garden City Thursday evening. He’s from upstate NY and she’s 100% Idaho, making music together for two years now. If you’re taking a road trip this summer, just load their music up and you’ll be there before you know it. “Settle Down” is a good example of their high-energy Americana style.

Joseph Lyle

Joseph Lyle, a deeply-felt guitarist, vocalist, and creative, has touched the hearts of Boiseans with acoustic brilliance over the past decade. I was mesmerized watching him layer together some gorgeous instrumentals at Maddie’s Wine & Whiskey Wednesday evening. Instead of capturing an original (which is what I try to do) I decided to go with this some familiar Buffalo Springfield so you can appreciate Joseph’s style as applied to this classic.

Bobby Dee Keys

Bobby Dee Keys was the guy to play Tuesdays on the Creek this week at Indian Creek Plaza. Bobby borrowed some players from local bands, and boy, did he strike gold as they played classic rock and country. As the storms came through, people simply crowded under the cover of the stage area and just kept dancing. Here’s a sample of some Bob Seger.

Camille Hugo

Camille Hugo is an old soul who describes herself as a vintage girl living in a modern world. She played Kindred Vineyards Monday afternoon, providing a lovely string of music mostly from the 50s and the 60s. If that’s your jam, you might enjoy her “Simpler Times Session” EP on Spotify, linked in her profile. Swipe a couple of times to hear a sample of a rain song on a sunny Memorial Day.

Mitch Sevy

Mitch Sevy (see-VEE), a singer/songwriter who’s been at it for 30 years now, played the Crescent Brewery Sunday afternoon. Mitch did some covers of Bob Seger, Paul Simon, Keith Whitley, Alabama, Bob Dylan, Plain White T’s, Johnny Cash, and more. Fitting for the Memorial Day weekend, he did this original about a man going off to war.
