Red Light Challenge

Red Light Challenge, the power-pop duo of Sean and Kyle Luster, played at Indian Creek Plaza Wednesday evening. These guys are Hawaii born and raised. They came here to attend Boise State and never left. Smart boys. They played a great selection of covers and originals, including this one about ex-girlfriends.

Sarah Simpson

Sarah Simpson is a Treasure Valley Singer songwriter. She also manages the “Deep Dive” section at the “Treasure Valley Notes” website, writing in-depth articles about musicians and venues. Thursday evening, she played a few hours of covers and originals on the patio at The Reef in downtown Boise. Check out “When You Come Around” about returning home.

Audio Moonshine

Audio Moonshine. a Boise-based rock band, was the opener last Tuesday for Jerry McComb at Indian Creek Plaza in Caldwell. If you’re not familiar with “Tuesdays on the Creek”, it’s a 20-week event series that includes live music from both local and touring artists, Tuesdays from 6-9pm. See you there tomorrow!

Synergy

Synergy, with Mary Knea on vocals, husband Rick Knea on bass, and friend G. Louis Hemenway on keys. played jazzed-up retro music at Swirl Wine Shop & Lounge Wednesday evening. We heard classics from Van Morrison, Stevie Wonder, Carole King, Ingrid Michaelson, Billy Joel, James Taylor, and more. If you like what you hear, catch them tomorrow night (7/26) on the patio at  Rembrandts in Eagle.

Emma Hansen

Emma Hansen is a Treasure Valley singer/songwriter who comes to us from Lewiston. She did her engaging girl-and-her-guitar music Friday evening at The Getaway Bar & Grill in Nampa. We heard covers from John Denver, Johnny Cash, Dolly Parton, Cranberries and more, and this original called “Growing Pains”.

Prairie Blue

Prairie Blue, made up of Freeman DeJongh (Gtr/Vox/Steel Gtr), Matt Skipper (Grt/Mando), Jacob Geier (Bass/Vox), and Treyson Krasowski (Drums/Vox), play an evening of Country (and Country-ish) music Thursday at Indian Creek Winery in Kuna. We heard music from Merle Haggard, Patsy Cline, Grateful Dead, Buck Owens and this gorgeous original which will be on their next album.

Darian Reneé

Darian Reneé is a Boise-based record producer, songwriter, vocalist, and vocal coach, who played music at the Pig Latin in Eagle on Sunday afternoon. Darian operates Muse Studios, the home base for her musical activities. Mixed in with some great covers, Darian played this song about returning home to Idaho.

The Mystics

The Mystics, a Boise classic rock band, played the Sandbar on the Greenbelt at the Riverside Hotel Thursday evening. You will find them at class reunions, cruise nights, festivals and various venues around the Treasure Valley. They did this Neil Diamond song, the Monkees had a hit with, and was also a hit in a Shrek Movie.

John Ceccarelli

John Ceccarelli is an acoustic musician and songwriter based in Boise, who played Bar 365 at the Riverside hotel on Thursday. He combines the musical elements of Fingerstyle, Acoustic, Jazz, and Rock guitar genres. You won’t find John on the web or the socials, so look for him at Green Acres, the Bogus Patio and, of course, Bar 365.

Groove Alley

Groove Alley (Tony Rheault on Keyboard/Vocal, Jerry Coleman on Trombone, and Bruce Wehler on Drums) performed last night at Swirl Wine Shop & Lounge. They specialize in a little New Orleans Jazz, a little Classic Rock, and a whole lot of Groove! That includes this classic from Duke Ellington.
