Scotty Mac and the Nugs (minus drums and bass) which includes Scotty Mac, Max Hillman and Kaleb Bletham, played Maddie’s Wine and Whiskey in Meridian Wednesday, January 8, 2024. These guys, who specialize in Rock, Country and Blues, took turns playing some awesome covers, and Scotty broke out his song “Take My Hand”.
Sam Henry, a Treasure Valley singer/songwriter, did a show at Indian Creek Winery on Sunday, January 5, 2025. Sam did a nice mix of originals and covers, and often communicates the significance of songs as he goes. He’s got a new single coming out on March 26 (the same day he plays Treefort!). His latest single, released on November 22, describes his childhood during Thanksgivings of old called “South of Green Bay“.
Landonious Monk, a local musician, did a show at the Good Apple Taphouse on Saturday, January 4, 2025. On stage he’s got percussion, keyboards, guitars and strings at his disposal that he can loop together to create just about any kind of mood you can imagine. We heard mostly original music, everything from weird, world music to this gorgeous instrumental called “A Night Out”. You’ll find it on his “Superluminal” album and wherever you stream your music.
Blaze & Kelly (Singer/songwriter, Niccole Blaze and her bassist, Mo Kelly) have been singing and bantering on stage for a good 15 years now. That kind of experience really shows through when they perform. I caught them at Talon Tap & Spirits in Meridian on Saturday, January 4. 2025. Along the way. we heard music from Pink Floyd, Tracey Chapman, Rolling Stones, David Gray, Sting, Box Tops, Dobie Gray, The Eagles and this original called “Deep”.
I got a note from Bandcamp saying that Lindzey Autumn released a single today. Bandcamp is my favorite local music source because it allows you to leave a gift and a note for the artists. “Rest of my Life” was written as Lindzey realized she’d found her forever love. Celebrate that moment with her by checking out the song.
Finely Tuned (Rick Scott & Jake Dobson) play music for everyone featuring music from the 80s and 90s, Rock and Country. I caught them at Voodoo Brewing in Meridian on Saturday, December 28, 2024. Along the way, we heard music from the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, Collective Soul, Harry Chapin, Jason Mraz, Pearl Jam and this Eagles classic.
Reisto Belovich is a Treasure Valley musician who played a solo show at Swirl Wine Shop & Lounge in downtown Nampa on Friday, December 27, 2024. In addition to solo shows, he plays keyboards for Lee & Friends. During this solo show, he played jazz and pop standards from people like Frank Sinatra, Bill Withers, CCR, Eric Clapton, Bad Company, Journey, Jimi Hendrix, The Doors, Elton John, Mamas & Papas, and this from Billy Joel.
Vibeka Amador is a Treasure Valley singer/songwriter who transitioned her focus from fronting a band to a solo Americana/Country/Indie presentation. Also, don’t be surprised if she throws in a little Taylor Swift, which she did Saturday, December 21, 2024 at Mesquite Creek Outfitters in Caldwell. Vibeka may have more than her share of break-up songs in her portfolio, and here’s one called “My Breakup With You”.
Rochelle (Rochelle Gabiola Harris) and {half of} The James Gang (her father, Jim) played Swirl Wine Shop & Lounge Friday, December 20, 2024. They are a local cover band that plays all over the Treasure Valley. In addition to a lovely selection of pop and country songs, they also did my favorite Christmas carol.
Sydney Dawn is a Boise-based singer/songwriter, who made the move from Sandpoint, ID just a few months ago.She played an interesting variety of music, new and old, at Indian Creek Winery Saturday afternoon. We heard songs from people like Nat King Cole, Emma Stone, Ed Sheeran, Bob Dylan, Bobby McFerrin, Hayley Taylor, Ben E King, and more. She also played an original called “The Fisherman’s Daughter” about healing from a lost love.
