Better Than Jam

Better Than Jam, a Caldwell-based married duo, played an evening of Bluegrass, Jazz standards, Country, Folk, and Pop Thursday evening at Mesquite Creek Outfitters in Caldwell. These guys are crazy-versatile as just about any musical style could be next. Here’s an original instrumental called “Mayberry in the Middle”, which you can find on their Facebook and YouTube channels.

Freudian Slip

Freudian Slip, a Boise band the plays music for all occasions, performed Saturday night at Swirl Wine Shop & Lounge in Nampa. They played mostly Jazz standards including a there-song Frank Sinatra tribute and jazzed-up pop music including a Burt Bacharach attack, John Prine, and Diana Ross. Here’s one from Duke Ellington.

The Dennis McCleary Band

The Dennis McCleary Band provided my first outdoor music of the season Saturday afternoon at Kerry Hill Winery. They played a nice selection of covers on this perfect Spring afternoon, including music from Fastball, The Beatles, Don Gibson, Merle Haggard, Glen Campbell, The Kinks, and this one from Neil Young.

Leah Lynn

Leah Lynn, a Treasure Valley singer/songwriter, played a nice mix of covers and originals Friday night at Crescent Brewery in Nampa. Along the way we heard music from Quarterflash, The Byrds, Brandi Carlile, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Jewel, and Judy Collins. From her original portfolio she performed “The lesson”.

Brian & Rook Crouse

Brian & Rook Crouse, the father and son music machine, played an evening of covers Saturday night at Mesquite Creek Outfitters in Caldwell. Rook really knows how to make that electric guitar sing on this John Denver classic.

Limited Edition

Limited Edition, Boise’s premier party band that plays all of your favorite hits, lit up Player’s Pub & Grill inside Westy’s Friday night. They promise to make any event unforgettable, and they delivered. If you’re into the club scene, Player’s Pub & Limited Edition is the perfect combination.

Tim Swanson Trio

The Tim Swanson Trio (Timothy Swanson on guitar, David Atwood on sax, and son Brandon Atwood on percussion) played an evening of covers at Las Calaveras Restaurant in Meridian Wednesday. Along the way, we heard music from Elvis Presley, Beatles, Glen Frey, Queen, Eagles, George Benson, Hall & Oates, Van Morrison, and this Gerry Rafferty classic.

Kiri

Kiri, a Boise singer/songwriter, played a program of mostly covers Saturday afternoon at Indian Creek Winery in Kuna. She does Billie Eilish songs especially well. “Final Goodbye” is an original.

Rochelle & The James Gang

Two-thirds of Rochelle & The James Gang (Rochelle Gabiola Harris
and her father James) played an evening of familiar (and beautifully done) covers Friday evening at Swirl Wine Shop & Lounge. I couldn’t imagine this Procol Harum classic without an organ, but I loved it!

Billy Blues Band

The Billy Blues Band, playing Rock, Soul and contemporary Blues, fulled Maddie’s Wine & Whiskey in Meridian with their tight grooves Thursday evening. This band has been around for 7 years, and it shows with how easy they make it look.
